ESP32-P4

The ESP32-P4 is a high-performance microcontroller from Espressif, designed for modern, computation-intensive applications, including image processing, audio handling, and advanced connectivity. The chip is based on the RISC-V architecture and consists of two main subsystems: the High-Performance (HP) system and the Low-Power (LP) system. The HP system features a dual-core 32-bit RISC-V processor with a clock speed of up to 360 MHz, while the LP system is equipped with a single-core processor optimized for power efficiency, operating up to 40 MHz.

The ESP32-P4 integrates a rich set of peripherals, including 55 GPIO pins, multiple UART, SPI, I2C, and I2S interfaces, two independent ADCs, touch sensors, PWM outputs, timers, and digital peripherals such as RMT, MCPWM, and TWAI (CAN 2.0B). Additionally, the chip offers support for USB 2.0 OTG (Full-Speed and High-Speed), Ethernet with GMAC, SD/MMC host, and video interfaces like MIPI-CSI and MIPI-DSI for connecting cameras and displays.

A significant part of the functionality lies in multimedia support—ESP32-P4 includes a JPEG codec, an H.264 encoder, an ISP, and a Pixel Processing Accelerator, enabling efficient real-time image processing. The memory architecture includes up to 768 KB of internal L2MEM, 32 KB of LP SRAM, and support for external PSRAM up to 32 MB. It also features security functions such as Secure Boot, hardware accelerators for AES, SHA, RSA, and ECC, digital signatures, an eFuse controller, and memory region protection via PMP/PMA.

ESP32-P4 is well-suited for applications that require high processing power, security, connectivity, and multimedia capabilities—such as HMI panels, robotics, industrial automation, edge AI systems, or smart home devices. Thanks to its dual processor domains and advanced power management, it is optimized for both performance and energy efficiency.
